"TAKING PRIDE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD"

ANNUAL "BELLEVUE IN THE PARK" - ANNUAL PICNIC HELD IN FAIRVIEW PARK EVERY AUGUST. 2006 WAS OUR 7TH PICNIC. Approx, 350 people attend and are treated to live music, clowns, face painting, animal balloons, free kids prizes, hot dogs, soda, pizza and cookies. ALL FREE OF CHARGE TO ALL ATTENDEES.

ANNUAL "SPRING NEIGHBORHOOD GARAGE SALE" - The BPA organizes the permit process and advertising for participants. Provides list of addresses and overview of items for sale, along with a map of the neighborhood for prospective buyers. ANNUALLY SINCE 2002.

"CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY AND PARTY" - Held for Bellevue residents and Bellevue Churches and Choirs. Several of the Bellevue Churches participate.  EVERY YEAR SINCE 2001. A BELLEVUE FAMILY EVENT.

"MEMORIAL SERVICE AND FLAG RAISING" -  AT VETERAN'S PARK, BROADWAY AND GUILDERLAND AVE. Held every two years since May 2001. In 2005 the committee raised approx. $900.00 to place a new plaque to honor Korean and Viet-Nam veterans. It was installed in August of 2005. Flowers are planted around the monument every year.

"RETREE BELLEVUE" - Since the fall of 2001 the BPA has worked with the RETREE SCHENECTADY ORGANIZATION to plant trees in Bellevue. With the addition of the 20 trees planted in October of 2006, APPROX 200 TREES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE STREETS OF BELLEVUE.  (THERE IS NO COST TO THE HOMEOWNER)

"FIRE HYDRANT PAINTING" - Since the summer of 2004 volunteers have painted hydrants as part of a city project.

"ELECTION DEBATES" - for City Council, County Legislators and Office of Sheriff. All ballot candidates (for city or county) are invited to a debate where they are all asked the same questions and their answers are timed. In 2006 the debates were held in October. Approx. 100 citizens attended this year's debate.

"MEETINGS - 63 CONSECUTIVE MEETINGS" - have been held since the first one on September 13th, 2000. Speakers have been invited to talk on a wide variety of subjects to keep residents informed. They include City, County & State officials, Proctors, Sch'dy Museum, Re-Tree Schenectady, Hewitt's (lawn/yard care) and many others.
